SSC Stands For “Staff Selection Commission”.
Staff Selection Commission conducts this examination for recruitment of Group B & Group C i.e. Technical & non-technical & non-gazetted posts in Government Sector. All the candidates are selected after tough examination which includes written (MCQ-Type) & Interview examinations. Some jobs in SSC are highly paid (Salary 60000+) & are also prestigious in the government sector.

Two such exams are:

• SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination also known as SSC-CGL for Graduate passed out Students.
• SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination also known as SSC-CHSL for 12th passed out Students.

SSC-CGL Exam Pattern:

The examination will be conducted in mainly three tiers as mentioned below:

Tier-1 (Prelims)	Consists Of Math, Reasoning, English & G.K.	200- Marks
Tier-2 (Mains)	(Objective Type) Maths & English Only.	400-Marks
Tier-3	Interview & Document Verifications & etc.	100-Marks

The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts the Combined Graduate Tier-1 only once a year for selection of candidates for the Tier-2 Examination.

Syllabus for SSC Exam Tier – 1 (Prelims Examination).

Maths (Quantitative Aptitude) (50 – Marks): In this the questions are designed to test the ability of the Candidate in chapter related to Maths like Simplification, Fractions, Algebraic Formula, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Ratio & Proportion, Profit & Loss, Number Series, Average, Percentage, Problem on Ages, Simple & Compound Interest, Area & Volume, Trains & Stream, Clock, Data Interpretation, Tabular Analysis, Graphical Analysis, Data Sufficiency, Permutation & Combinations, Probability, Geometry, Quadratic Equations, Algebra, Trigonometry, Height & Distance  etc.

Reasoning (50 – Marks): Verbal Reasoning (Calendar, Coding & Decoding Series, Analogy, Classifications, Distance & Direction, Pair of words & Alphabets, Ranking & Ordering, & etc). 
Logical Reasoning (Assumptions & Argument-1,2 & 3 Types, Course of Action, Conclusions & Results, Syllogism, Venn Diagram, Conditional Reasoning, Categorization, Arrangement, Blood Relation, Coded & Alphabets Relationship, Coded Inequality, Data Sufficiency, Cause-Effect, Resultant, Input-output & etc). 
Non-Verbal Reasoning (Series, Analogy, Classifications, Cubes, Dices, Paper folding & Cutting, Number Puzzle, Water & Mirror Images, Embedded figures, Matrices & etc).

General Knowledge (50 – Marks): In this component Questions will be based on testing candidate’s general knowledge. The test will include questions from History, Geography, Polity, Economic, General Policy, Chemistry, Physics, Biology & Environment etc.

English Comprehension (50 – Marks): It is mainly to judge the ability of the student that how much he/she understands the English. It consists of mainly Error Detection, Comprehensions, Noun, Pronoun, Tenses, verb, adverb, cloze test, etc.

Syllabus for SSC Exam Tier – 2 (Mains Examination)

Quantitative Ability (100 - Marks): Majorly SSC Tier-2 Consists of the same chapter & syllabus in maths as in SSC tier-1like (Average, Percentage, Simple & Compound Interest, Area & Volume, Trains, Clock, Permutation & Combinations, Probability, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry & etc ) but the main difference is that SSC tier-2 syllabus is tough as compared to SSC tier-1, so it may be advisable to take coaching or expert guidance to crack your SSC tier-2 exam.
